Mental Health Awareness Program at Karail Slum, Dhaka

TRIN's Mental Health Awareness Program at Karail — one of Dhaka's largest urban slums — is a landmark community outreach initiative addressing the dual burden of poverty and mental health neglect. Through street theatre, group discussions, community health worker training, and free screening camps, we have reached thousands of residents who would otherwise have no access to mental health information or support.

The program specifically targets stigma reduction, crisis recognition, and referral pathway building. It is part of a broader urban mental health strategy and has been acknowledged as a model for scalable, low-resource community mental health programming in South Asia.
